My grandma has a new gardener. I knew she was excited about him, but I didn’t know it was such an emotional experience for her! The previous gardener didn’t do such a hot job, was sort of expensive, and would take the fruit and avocados from her trees without asking. He just wasn’t a feel-good gardener.
A friend recommended a gardener to her and gave her the name of a man named Angel who was in the business. My grandma later looked him up in the yellow pages and called. When the man came he explained that he did not know that lady and my grandma had apparently reached another man instead. My grandma felt good about him, as he was a very nice man, so she decided to stay with him. He went gave her his card and told her a little background story about himself.
He used to be an engineer, married with two kids, a boy and a girl. He lost his two kids in a fire at his home. His wife survived and they are still married and have since had another child. As you might imagine, this was a very difficult time in his life and caused him to reboot his soul. He made a decision to do landscaping. I’m sure it was therapeutic to get out of the office and out into nature to have quiet time to reflect while he worked. He took his card back and wrote his price on the back of it. My grandma told him he made a mistake. He said, “No, it’s right. I still make some money. Don’t worry.” The fee was so low she was sure it was a mistake.
My grandma told me this story this past Mother’s Day weekend and then showed me the card. On it was two little cherubs, for his children. The name of the business was Angel Gardens.
When you need inspiration the most, the angels are always there for you. You just have to be in a place to appreciate them when they come. They are always there, but you don’t always take time to notice.
